My husband found me online at BlackPlanet.com. We shared a mutual friend and while he and his friend were breezing through all their “lady friends”, my husband stated “That lady there will be my wife” when he saw my picture. Of course his friend laughed at him but my husband remembered my screen name and emailed me the following message: “I thought only cows and corn grow in Missouri”. My husband lived in New York and I lived here in St. Louis. Upon receiving his response, I replied “Yea, cows, corn and me” and that was the blooming of our relationship.
We had a long distant relationship for 5 years, with each of us visiting every three months. I would go to NYC and he would come to STL. In 2004, my daughter was tragically hurt when hit by a car. My husband gave up his job and his home in NYC to come to STL, marry me and help take care of my daughter. We lived married but long distance for three months before he found a job and became settled. He has been one of the best parts of my life and our love goes far beyond just how we feel about each other, it’s so much more spiritually because we are FRIENDS.
